Speakeasy to Merge with Covad and Megapath June 14, 2010

speakeasy I was alerted by the folks at Speakeasy that they will be merging with Covad and Megapath in the 3rd quarter of 2010. The move was made in order to expand the reach of the Speakeasy network and improve its capabilities in the areas voice, Internet access, VPN and managed services. The move will make Speakeasy the first Managed Services Local Exchange Carrier (MSLEC). You can view details about the merger here.

Of course, my first concern was how this move would affect SMBTN members who are engaged with Speakeasy. To date, it looks like a win, as it will not only expand the areas of service but also the types of services we can offer and it does not alter our current agreement with Speakeasy. Regardless, we are planninmg to schedule a conference call so you can ask the questions that you want answered about how the merger may affect your business. I would also invite you to comment here so that we can ensure that we have answers for most of your questions for you on the conference call.

netCIO Adds $5000 To Bottom Line with Hosted VOIP Solution September 20, 2009

netciovirtual50Jeff Adzima of netCIO in San Diego, California, was looking for a voice-over-IP solution that he felt confident about recommending to his clients and would  enhance his bottom line. Specifically,

I was looking for a VOIP solution that was easy to sell, works as sold, makes sense for the client, has easy onboarding and easy transitioning from the old and has good client support on the back end. Speakeasy delivers it all. The bonus is the commission structure for SMBTN members. I get 10% monthly of the total service I sell, plus an in house system with the same savings. It’s kind of a no-brainer.

The result of his affiliation with SMBTN and Speakeasy was an addition of approximately $5000 in recurring revenue that was added to netCIO’s bottom line in 2008. Best of all, under the terms of SMBTN’s agreement with Speakeasy, netCIO will continue to receive these commissions for as long as their client continues service. Speakeasy offers the same commission structure to SMBTN members throughout the United States on DSL, T1, Business Ethernet, SIP Trunking, Hosted VOIP and more. “The average SMBTN member engaged in our Speakeasy program, earns about $450 in commissions each month,” according to Marilyn Locke, Member Services Manager for SMBTN.

However, we all know that none of this makes much difference if the service is lousy or you can’t get the support you need when you need it. Jeff says his clients have been very happy with the service they received from Speakeasy but we wanted to know what his personal experience has been like. Here is what he said:

It’s excellent. They are with you every step of the way. They send me demo equipment that I can bring to the client and setup and they will do a webinar at the same time. Their engineers are awesome and step you through the setup. After support is as good with instantaneous email and phone support.

New open API structure gives partners maximum flexibility when leveraging professional services automation software to better run their managed service practice

Zenith Infotech, a leading provider of backup and disaster recovery (BDR), and remote monitoring and management (RMM) solutions, today announced the integration of its SAAZ RMM tool with the leading hosted professional services automation (PSA) application from Autotask Corporation. Autotask is the first company to write to Zenith Infotech’s new open application programming interface (API), which enables broad integration with complementary third-party software applications.

Zenith SAAZ’s integration with Autotask’s IT Service Management platform gives managed service providers deeper insight into their client networks and automates their critical business processes including:

  • Asset Discovery – data imports from Zenith SAAZ directly into Autotask configuration records.
  • Contract and Invoice Management – as the number of devices monitored changes, Zenith SAAZ automatically updates this information within Autotask, ensuring more accurate agreements and billing.
  • Remote Access – a link to Zenith SAAZ from within the Autotask console enables solution providers to remotely log in to devices efficiently and conveniently.
  • True Ticket/Alert Synchronization – that allows:
    • Automatic creation of tickets/alerts initiated from Zenith SAAZ to appear in Autotask
