Speakeasy to Merge with Covad and Megapath June 14, 2010

speakeasy I was alerted by the folks at Speakeasy that they will be merging with Covad and Megapath in the 3rd quarter of 2010. The move was made in order to expand the reach of the Speakeasy network and improve its capabilities in the areas voice, Internet access, VPN and managed services. The move will make Speakeasy the first Managed Services Local Exchange Carrier (MSLEC). You can view details about the merger here.

Of course, my first concern was how this move would affect SMBTN members who are engaged with Speakeasy. To date, it looks like a win, as it will not only expand the areas of service but also the types of services we can offer and it does not alter our current agreement with Speakeasy. Regardless, we are planninmg to schedule a conference call so you can ask the questions that you want answered about how the merger may affect your business. I would also invite you to comment here so that we can ensure that we have answers for most of your questions for you on the conference call.

netCIO Adds $5000 To Bottom Line with Hosted VOIP Solution September 20, 2009

netciovirtual50Jeff Adzima of netCIO in San Diego, California, was looking for a voice-over-IP solution that he felt confident about recommending to his clients and would  enhance his bottom line. Specifically,

Business Class Ethernet is a very easy sell as it is a full duplex internet connection with the same SLAs as a T1 for much lower pricing per Meg, for instance our 3/3 Mbps circuit starts at $380 a month.  Pricing and more details about the service can be found in the order form attached.  We can also offer dynamic voice via SIP Trunks, Dial tone or VoIP over these connections which could save your customers money on phone services.   

If you  haven’t yet sold any Speakeasy Internet or VOIP service, I encourage you to take a look at it.
